Wells Fargo team members pitch in to help build Habitat for Humanity home
BAY CITY, Ore. - Wells Fargo team members recently volunteered to paint and help in the landscape process of the Tillamook Habitat for Humanity home for the Pickard Family at 8th & Ocean in Bay City. The Wells Fargo team worked with other volunteers from the Church of Latter Day Saints, Tillamook High School, Pozos Habitat family and the Pickard family and spent the day with busy hands setting a new painting record while others were busy raking and moving fill. Everyone had a great time, laughter; stories and fun are just part of it all; some wore home samples of the paint colors and a few blisters too. Habitat would like to thank Hal Symons, Vice president of the board of directors for leading the painting crew and Sub Way for furnishing lunch for the hungry crew which is always essential to keeping the energy level high. Volunteers are the heart of Habitat and everyone brings a special talent which makes it possible to continue to build more affordable housing for low income families in Tillamook County. Tillamook banking store Manager Wanda Kinkade and Financial Consultant David McAdams led the team of Wells Fargo volunteers. “With housing prices escalating in Oregon, the need for affordable housing is also increasing,” said McAdams. Wells Fargo believes we will also be as strong as our communities and we do everything we can to support them. Construction on the house began June 23rd and is expected to be done by Thanksgiving. This is the third house that Habitat for Humanity us building on the 8th & Ocean Bay City site. The nonprofit agency is planning to build four more for a total of seven at this site. Wells Fargo is the only financial services company in the nation with a foundation dedicated solely to meeting the affordable homeownership needs of low- to moderate-income families.”
“The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation’s mission is to provide resources to nonprofit organizations and to Wells Fargo team members to meet the homeownership needs of low- to moderate-income people,” said Kinkade.
“To accomplish this mission, the foundation partners with established local and national nonprofit housing organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, that have demonstrated the ability to create homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income families. The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation also supports nonprofit housing organizations that provide homebuyer education and counseling and foreclosure prevention programs, as well as help low- to moderate-income homeowners make necessary repairs and upgrades. “
“Wells Fargo team members have also helped build other Habitat for Humanity affordable housing projects in Bend, Gresham and Portland this year. The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation has supported those efforts with grants totaling more than $183,000. Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness. People of all backgrounds volunteer to build Habitat homes with families in need. The homes are sold to the families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The mortgage payments are used to build more homes. “
